Review - Linkin Park (Hollywood Bowl 2017 Performance)

Updated: May 9, 2021

The other day I was watching a Hollywood Bowl 2017 performance of the famous rock band Linkin Park.

There was the audience, there were the band members, the instruments, the music, and everything. However, there was an indispensable piece missing from that performance. The voice of the band himself, Chester.

The song they chose to perform was, 'In the End'. Mike Shinoda was there to sing the rap, but who to sing Chester's part, I kept wondering until they started.

And guess who? It was none other than the audience themselves, who sang Chester's part of the song. That was a surreal experience because that performance looked nothing short of how Chester himself would have rendered it.

Everybody in the audience sang that song out loud and never did they miss any note or seemed chaotic or asynchronous at all. Even their cries were synchronized, and I am certain, so were their emotions.

One of the best tributes by the audience to Chester, especially when it was all unplanned. Every single soul out there that night, sang along the song impulsively. The honesty they sang the song with, clearly showed how much they missed their angel.

A true Linkin Park and Chester fan couldn't have seen that video without crying. I am certain because I cried too.
