The Broken Soul

Updated: Mar 29, 2023

One broken soul,

withered and parched and wrinkled and harshed,

walking down a boulevard, completely drooped.

Perhaps, trying to reach somewhere, yet absolutely unsure where.

Although, surrounded by trees,

but those that are no different than the soul,

wilted and decayed and shrunken and faded.

Perhaps, the trees and the soul deserved nothing better than each other.

Dragged itself to a few more yards, just to find another soul. Indeed, the other soul was broken too. Nonetheless, just not as much as this soul was.

This soul felt happy momentarily for it was not alone anymore.

All excited, this soul plucked part one of its own and affixed it to the other broken soul.

That soul was all happy, for that was not broken anymore.

This soul, however, was left alone, broken even more.

The soul walked further, with whatever was left of it,

And so it happened, this soul found another broken one.

Seeing another soul, this soul was happy again and had the past all forgotten.

Again, all excited, it plucked part another of its own and affixed it to the broken soul.

Fixed and full, the other soul fled away smiling, as that was also not broken anymore.

This soul, however, was left alone and broken even more.

Almost on the verge of crumbling and falling down,

struggling for its existence, mere,

trying to walk the boulevard down,

still unsure to where.

For, this soul has no pieces left and no hope left, it fell down.

lying on sideways with its tears dried up, impotent to even pick itself up.

Along came another broken soul, and stood by it, staring and smiling.

That soul picked this soul up and gave it a warm hug smiling. Held it for a while, until both of their pieces merged into each other.

Now, it was not just two broken souls fighting for survival,

rather one complete unbroken soul, after revival.
