A Conversation.

The other day I had a discussion with one of my school friends after a long time, which started with usual greetings asking about each other’s well-being. It didn’t take long when I realized that the discussion had drifted into a casual yet very sensible discussion. I am sure all of you will resonate with this story.

Back in the school days, everybody asked me which field of career I would like to pursue after completing our high school. That would have been the decider of our subjects for the remaining two years of my school education. Coincidentally, I and him, both had similar thought process behind choosing the subjects in post high-school education, which was the influence of the society and to some extent peer pressure as well.

Although, we did good in our respective areas of profession which were very much in line with what we’d chosen in the school years. However, that was never our first choice and it took us years to realize that. Alright, maybe my friend realized it a little earlier than I did. He chose to become an Entrepreneur and runs a company, for quite some time now.

I did acknowledge my area of interest also. I’ve been doing that ever since I was a student, however, I never thought of making it into a career, owing to all that societal and peer pressure. And yes, to some extent, my desire to earn a handsome salary as well. But I am yet to make a move to materialize that dream of mine into reality.

Had we had liberty and the mindset of picking up the field that we were genuinely interested in during our education years, instead of just accepting blindly what others fed us, we would have been a much happier generation today, free of agony, resentment, frustration and all those negative feelings that are deteriorating us as a human being. And that is something which surpasses the satisfaction of earning money by a greater margin.

In the end, both of us agreed upon providing a much liberal and favorable environment to our offspring so that they flourish without any agony and regrets later on in their lives.

Do share your thoughts?

P.S: The conversation was a little more detailed, however, I have kept it smaller so that you can engulf it easily.
